A Flash banner is an animated graphical element, usually at the top of a web page, which identifies the page and provides some aesthetic appeal. The banner acts as a form of branding for the associated website or a navigation tool for that website. Intended to let a web page visitor know where they are and what they should expect on that page, Flash banners can either reinforce a website's value propositions or act as a gateway to another web page. These banners are usually placed on web pages at the top, bottom, or in the side margins of the pages.
Graphical banners take a long time to load and they load progressively thereby not captivating the users' interests like they should be. Flash banners on the other hand, load the total information contained within it at the start of the animation thereby streamlining the process.
